Kylie + Trae’s Legacy Hill Farm Wedding in Welch, MN

A couple stands hand in hand in a lush green setting, with the bride wearing a fitted strapless gown and holding a bouquet of white flowers, and the groom in a light tan suit, against a backdrop of rolling fields.

A first little peek

When I asked Kylie to describe the style of the day, she called it neutral with a modern, whimsical twist. In her words, she’s “a very neutral girl” who wanted “a little added spice.” Think creams and whites, rich chocolate brown, and just a whisper of green. It was effortless and elevated all at once, and honestly? It photographed like a dream.

Whether you’re one of Kylie and Trae’s people or a couple dreaming up your own Legacy Hill Farm wedding, grab a coffee and scroll through the day with me.

Morning at Legacy Hill Farm

If you’ve never been to Legacy Hill Farm, picture a tiered stone fountain tucked under big shade trees, an old windmill turning overhead, and white farmhouse buildings scattered across the grounds. Kylie told me what she loved most was how many different spots there are, all tied together on one property. She’s so right. We never had to get in a car, and every corner felt like a new backdrop.

The girls got ready upstairs in the cottage, and at one point they all wandered out onto the little wrought iron balcony in their matching chocolate satin pajamas. Blue sky, swaying pines, everybody leaning on the railing taking it all in. That’s the kind of moment I live for.

Neutral wedding details and a full flat lay

Kylie asked for a full flat lay, and her details made it so easy. Pleated ivory heels with soft ankle ties, a velvet ring box holding both of their rings, and an invitation suite with delicate hand-drawn florals and their monogram. Add in matching vow books, a little bottle of her perfume, a white rose boutonniere, sprigs of baby’s breath, and her pearl-edged veil spread underneath it all.

The window light was doing something magical on the wood floor that morning, so I leaned into those long shadows. I made a black and white version too, because Kylie loves them as much as I do.

Getting ready: full glam and a corset gown

Kylie knew from the start she wanted full glam, and Dena Artistry and CactusMane absolutely delivered. Soft sculpted waves, a sweet half-up pony, and makeup that looked incredible in every kind of light. Watching her slip in her pearl drop earrings in the mirror, wearing that dreamy ruffled robe, I just knew the rest of the day was going to be beautiful.

Her girls piled onto the couch around her in their brown satin pajamas, laughing and hyping her up. You can feel how much they love her in these.

Then came the dress. Her Ivory Bridal gown is fitted with a structured corset bodice, layered lace, tiny pearls, and just enough sparkle. I’m obsessed with how it hung in the doorway with all that green behind it. Once she tied on her shoes and settled into the window light, she was glowing.

A garden first look by the barn

Kylie wanted a classic first look. Trae turned around, she walked up behind him and tapped his shoulder. Simple, and perfect.

We set it up in the garden beside the big weathered barn. Trae stood there in his light tan suit trying so hard to keep it together, and he was grinning ear to ear before she even reached him. These two told me they love to laugh and joke around, and that came through instantly. There was one quiet moment where they both just looked down and took it all in, and it might be one of my favorites from the whole day.

Mocha satin bridesmaids and tan suits

Twelve of their favorite people stood beside them, and the palette came together beautifully. The guys wore light tan suits with plaid brown ties, cognac shoes, and tiny baby’s breath boutonnieres. Kylie wanted a “normal and funny” mix with the groomsmen, and this serious, editorial one in front of the white cottage gives me major album cover energy.

The bridesmaids wore mocha satin gowns from BirdieGray, and they carried lush white bouquets by Kate Keupers, full of roses, ranunculus, and a little texture from scabiosa pods. Out by the hedge, with rolling fields behind them, they all gathered around to fluff her train. It’s sweet and candid and so them.

Fountain portraits at Legacy Hill Farm

Remember that tiered fountain from the morning? By early afternoon, Kate Keupers had tucked a cascade of blush and peach roses, white stock, and little white bellflowers right into its top tier. I could’ve photographed it all day.

Of course we brought these two over for a few portraits. Kylie sat on the edge of the fountain looking up at Trae like he hung the moon, and he couldn’t stop smiling back at her. Water sparkling, soft shade, total sweetness.

An outdoor ceremony overlooking the fields in Welch, MN

At 4:00, Kylie walked down the aisle to a violin version of “Bless the Broken Road.” The ceremony site at Legacy Hill Farm faces wide open farm fields, and their officiant, Tom, stood beneath a rustic wooden arch wrapped in soft ivory fabric and clusters of white hydrangeas and roses. The bridesmaids lined up in their mocha satin, bouquets in hand, and the breeze kept catching her veil in the best way.

Kylie told me the moments she cared about most were walking down, the vows, the kiss, and walking back up the aisle together. Friends, they nailed every single one. That first kiss under the arch, with the ring bearer grinning off to the side? Perfect. And then Trae dipped her right in the middle of the aisle on the way out while everyone cheered. I love these two so much.

Cocktail hour on the patio

With 211 guests on the list, cocktail hour was buzzing. Drinks were flowing at the bar, people spilled out onto the patio and lawn, and Kylie floated through the crowd hugging everyone she could reach. I snuck upstairs and caught a few frames through the old window panes, which is one of my favorite little ways to show how full a day really felt.

Golden hour portraits by the ivy wall

After dinner, we slipped away for a few minutes while the light went soft. We found a wall of green ivy with the fields rolling out behind it, and these two just melted into each other. Trae held her face, she leaned into him, and it was the most them thing in the world. Kylie said she wanted these photos to show their future kids what real love looks like. I think these ones will.

A little horsepower

Okay, I have to talk about the cars. As the sun went down, a white BMW and the red Porsche GT3 RS they’d planned for their getaway were parked out by the little white barn, headlights glowing and the windmill turning overhead. It was moody and editorial and so fun, and it’s the exact “little added spice” Kylie promised me from the start.

Planning a Legacy Hill Farm wedding?

If you’re dreaming about Legacy Hill Farm for your own Minnesota wedding, here are a few things I loved about photographing there.

Everything happens on one property. Getting ready, the first look, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception all took place in Welch without anyone getting in a car, so you get way more time for photos and way less time watching the clock.

The photo spots are endless. My favorites are the tiered fountain (gorgeous with florals tucked in), the weathered barn for a first look, the ceremony arch facing open farm fields, the ivy wall for golden hour, and the little white barn and windmill once the sun starts to set.

A first look gives you so much breathing room. Kylie and Trae did their first look and family photos before the 4:00 ceremony, which meant they got to actually enjoy cocktail hour with their guests. We slipped out for golden hour portraits during dinner, and it only took a few minutes.

There’s a rain plan built in. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the pavilion works for both the ceremony and reception, so you’re never scrambling.

So much more to come

And there’s still so much waiting in your full gallery: your grand entrance, the speeches, your first dance to “Life With You” by Kelsey Hart, and that father daughter dance that turned into a full breakout routine. I can’t wait for you to relive all of it.
